What is Coup d’vent?

Born from a passion for the oceans and a profound disapproval for wasting, Coup d'vent (« gust of wind» in French) upcycles sun, wind and water gear into bags and other lifestyle accessories. Instead of piling up at the rubbish dump, preloved kites, sails and wetsuits become sturdy, lightweight and reusable shopping bags, backpacks, wallets, lamps, bean bags and so much more ! Based in Perth, we source old unusable gear around Western Australia and turn them into one of a kind colorful items.Full of memories from a sunny, windy and salty life, these unique sailbags are ready to embark on their new adventure!

From sails to bags

We are located in Perth (Western Australia) where the whole process takes place. We collect old kites, sails, wetsuits and shade sails locally. We also use off-cuts kindly provided by sail makers, that would otherwise go to the landfill! They are washed, cut and assembled carefully by hand following our own designs. Every item is stitched individually using a unique combination of patterns, material and colors so that each of them is unique! As many parts as possible from old kites and sails are re-used: various materials, X-ply, zippers, lines and other small parts are often used in bags and purses while batons and broken masts are used to build structures for lamps.
